About THE TOURNAMENT

 Colby was passionate about the water and outdoors, he enjoyed fishing and spending time outside. The Colby Memorial Fishing Tournament is a catch and release tournament hosted annually in Naples, Florida to raise funds for his Scholarship Memorial fund. This one day event will feature over 150 anglers competing in the inshore waters of Southwest Florida to catch 2 redfish and 1 snook.

  On July 6th, 2019, Colby Singletary was in a tragic accident that took his life. Colby was 18 years old and was going into his Senior year. He was a 2x State Champ in Wrestling and a Star Football player for Palmetto Ridge High School. He was also the 2017 Southwest Florida Wrestler of the Year, 2018 Wrestler of the Year & 2018 Male Athlete of the Year. He had offers to play D1 Football or Wrestle. To keep Colby’s educational dreams alive, the Family has set up a Scholarship Fund. Scholarships will be awarded each year to (2+) Collier County Public High School students. To continue the educational support, Colby’s Memorial Fishing tournament is held annually to raise funds in his honor. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Colby Singletary Scholarship Fund, which is a 501c3 Corporation.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. The entry fee for the Colby Memorial Fishing Tournament is as follows, $350 Per Team (3 anglers) $100 for additional 4th Angler. Junior anglers (12 & under are free) Maximum 4 anglers allowed per boat including any Junior Anglers. Tournament may be rescheduled due to extreme weather. **Each team must have at least one angler attend the captain’s meeting.**
  2.  The tournament species will include two redfish in a live weigh-in format. Each team may only weigh in a maximum of 2 redfish. All Redfish must measure within the Florida regulation of 18-27 inches as measured by the tournament weigh master.
  3. There will be a $500 prize for the largest snook measured on the tournament supplied boards. A photo must submitted clearly showing your boat number, and the mouth and tail measurement of the fish on the tournament supply board. Each fish must be placed on the tournament board with their mouth closed and touching the front of the board. If any part of the fish’s tail goes over an inch line or ½” line, it will be rounded up to the next ½”. For example: A fish that is just over the 33” line will be scored as 33.5”. The tie breaker for length will be determined by earliest check in time. 
  4. Anglers can use bait of choice including live, artificial, or dead. Receiving bait from an outside source during tournament hours is prohibited.
  5. Teams can weigh in only once. Teams will not be able to weigh in early and attempt to upgrade their weight. Once teams have weighed a single fish they will not be able to upgrade their weight or fish quantity. 
  6. This is a catch & release tournament. All fish must be released alive after weigh-in. Dead redfish may not be discarded and will count as the daily bag limit for your team. You will be allowed to weigh in 1 dead fish. There is a 1-pound penalty for a dead fish. If your team weighs in two dead fish your weight will be disqualified. Your fish will be determined dead or alive at the scale. No iced or mutilated fish will be accepted.
  7. Tournament hours will be 7am – 3:30pm. No Lines in the water till 7:00am. Check-in/weigh-in will begin no earlier than 2:30pm
  8. All teams must be checked-in or be in the check-in line at Stan's by 3:30pm. Teams will be penalized 1- Pound for every minute late after the deadline. 
  9. No angler at anytime may alter any fish by length or weight with the intention of gaining advantage over another competing team. In addition, no angler may hand or force feed any tournament fish.
  10. No tournament boats may come together for any reason or pass anything between boats during tournament hours. Exception made for emergency purposes, or in the weigh-in line.
  11. All fish must be caught alive in a sporting manner. Foul hooked fish cannot be weighed in. A fouled hooked fish is defined as any fish that does not have at least one hook in the mouth region.
  12. No changing of boats without tournament approval. Replacement boat must be checked in at tournament dock prior to restart. Any team towing another tournament boat in must contact tournament officials.
  13. The tie breaker for weights will be decided by the time each team completes their weigh-in. The team that weighs in earlier will be awarded the winner. 
  14. All contestants are required to follow all applicable federal, state, and local statutes, rules, and regulations (laws); any violations of such laws may result in disqualification from the tournament. 
  15. Anglers may fish anywhere on tournament waters accessible by boat, except areas designated as off limits or no fishing by local, state, federal, or Tournament officials, or within 25 yards of a competitor’s boat “actively engaged in fishing” unless invited in. The definition of “actively engaged in fishing” is a boat with the trolling motor in operation with anglers fishing, a boat held in place by anchor, push pole, or Power Pole. There will be no fishing within 200 yards of the weigh in site.
  16. All boats used in tournament competition must contain recirculating or aerated live wells. All competing boats must have all required US Coast Guard safety equipment.
  17. No angler may fish in the confines of any commercial marina. A commercial marina is defined as any marina with a guide dock, boat ramp, bait dispensing facility and/or fuel dock. In addition there will be no fishing within 100 yards of any public boat ramp, guide dock/ramp, bait dock, or fuel dock not in a commercial marina.
  18. Sportsman Rule- All participants in the Colby Memorial Fishing Tournament will conduct themselves in a sportsman-like manner during tournament activities. Unacceptable behavior will result in expulsion from all future tournament events. Disqualification or misconduct in any other fishing tournament within 36 months prior to the tournament date is grounds for an application not being accepted or returned. Tournament officials may refuse any tournament application or deny a previous application by returning the entry fee or balance of fees to the Captain. Entry fees are non-refundable, and non-transferable. 
  19. Tournament officials retain the right to amend or add/delete to these published rules at any time during the year in order to maintain the quality and competitiveness of the event.
  20. All vessels must remain in the water upon check out by the tournament staff. No tournament vessel can be loaded on the trailer and transported to another location during tournament hours for fishing.
